The program is administered by the Officiating Development Committee led by the National Director of Umpires (NDU), six Deputy Umpires-in-Chief, a Board Liaison and the Manager – Officials. Easy to use method of finding rules use CTRL-F in any section to find what you are looking for.
Softball Canada Casebook
The Casebook is the bible for specific examples that may not be clear from reading the rulebook. It is broken into sections the same as the rulebook. It is completely searchable. Once you are in the book on a laptop or desktop machine press and hold the CTRL button and push the letter F. You can then enter any term you want and the book will then show you all the occurrences of that term. You may download the casebook to your own device for future use.

Umpire Toolbox
Softball Canada’s Umpire’s Toolbox is where umpires can access all the resources needed to help improve their skills. In the Umpire Toolbox, you will the following information:
- Umpire Manuals
- the WSBC (World Baseball Softball Confederation) mechanics manuals for 1, 2, 3 and 4 umpire systems, which have been adopted by Softball Canada in fast-pitch;
- bat check protocols; and
- unapproved bat list
Umpire Exam
Once you have been told to write the exam, you can go to the following location to write your exam.
Taking the exam too soon may result in you writing last year’s exam, meaning you would then have to do a second one.
